Hello!
Last Sunday during the devotional, the woman speaking had a
mic on her because she was moving around while she was speaking. But it was
pinned to her shirt on one side and when she would turn away from it, it
wouldn't pick up her voice as much and so it would get quieter and louder
depending on what direction her head was turned. It reminded me of Singing in
the Rain (I feel like I have been reminded of that movie a lot lately) when
they are recording her and she keeps moving her head and the sound fades in and
out. It made me laugh. (:
We have service every Wednesday morning and we clean in one
of the buildings and it reminds me of working at Snowbird and Granite and I
just love those memories! I don't love cleaning but I really don't mind it
either. It's a nice mental break from sitting and studying all day long!
While Sestra Yergensen and I are very similar, we do have a
few differences: she like vegetables, I do not. I like juice (I get it at most
meals. I think I get that from Dad!) and she doesn't. She played sports, I did
choir. (We are in the choir here and it's the first time she has ever
participated in choir. I was shocked!!) She is very fit and loves to exercise
and run. (She ran track and cross country for BYU. She is FAST!) I don't mind
exercise and running but I don't love it as much as she does! I like hiking
better!
Part of our zone left this week! It was bittersweet! S.
Yerg. is very bummed. She really got to know them. I am bummed too but I think
she is more bummed.
We also got new people in our zone! We have roommates! It's
weird. I am not used to it! Every time we walk in, I am shocked to see people
in there! It makes me laugh. Having roommates is something I should be used to
by now. They are all so cute though! One of the sisters in our room went to
high school with Starješina James (he is in our district).
(Before, I didn't know the difference between district and
zone so I'll try to clarify when I use terms like that. District: the four of
us learning Croatian. Zone: a whole bunch of districts. My zone is going all
over Eastern Europe speaking Bulgarian, Polish, Czech, Slovakian, Slovenian,
and Croatian.)
I think one of my favorite words in Croatian is
"smrt". It means death. But it has no vowels!! It's so cool!! I think
the word for hard is the same way but I don't remember what it is.
We teach investigators and when we started it was
terrifying. I probably talked about it but I don't remember. Now, it has gotten
better! We don't have to write out a script as much and we are getting better
at not reading from our books and we are feeling the spirit more in our
lessons. They are great! (Well, they are better.)
We are starting to kind of learn cyrillics. And by that I
mean they use them and we try to figure it out.
The fourth of July was kind of a bummer. I tried to stay
positive but it was so hard because I knew that my friends and family were
hiking and swimming and eating lots of good food and watching fireworks and I
was here studying the day away.
Also, dang I miss Orderville and Bear Lake. They sound so
nice right now!
Heavenly Father is so kind to me. He has blessed me to not
have the gift of crying as much as I did before. I have managed to only bawl
once. And that was when I found out about Abby.
What I found out about Abby: For those who don't know, Abby
is in a coma right now. You can see the whole story on KSL news. She fell 50
feet while hiking with her brother.
I don't know if I am allowed to ask you to pray for her (I
know we are not supposed to ask people to help out with things in the country
we are serving in) but I am going to ask you all to. Please pray for Abby and
for her family. Send them your love.
(You can read the story here. If it's not appropriate for Jessa to ask for prayers, then I'll ask! They need your prayers. Abby, Brittany, and Jessa all went through French together. They all have been called to foreign-speaking missions, but none were French. (: )
I love you all.
Love,
Sestra Locey
P.S. Send me an email! Send me some pictures! I like to
know what you guys are doing!
These are pictures from before the old ones left and before
the new ones came.
